fishy's first nano build

Looking great! As you said, there's no harm in trying the 3000k light. Looks like a good (eye pleasing) spectrum.

It looks sweet! Very nice!

The aquascape looks really good!

Thank you sir! I also really like the scape.:)

Thank you Bob! I agree that it being eye pleasing. Not sure how it will go longish term but if it fails or works well it will be interesting.

A little update on the tank. I have diatoms on the rocks and sand. Now is that a good sign or a bad one?

Good sign. That means bacteria is in there..and things are happening! Diatoms will go away when you wake up one morning lol!

Fishy, I love what you did with the scape. Just read your whole thread and when I saw the pile of rocks I was like oh no.

But I can tell you're sort of OCD, like me haha! You took some out, moved them around, even drilled some holes and used zip ties! That's awesome creativity! I really admire your aquascape and I can't wait to see you fill this thing up with corals.

You've arranged the scape in a way that will allow you to keep corals in creative places. This is gonna be awesome!

Thanks for the kind words spoon! And thanks for subscribing:D
Do you mean OCD as in obsessive compulsive disorder? If so I do have a obsession with making sure things are perfect Hahahaha lol.

So CUC will be alright in such a new tank?

Yea it's fine. Normally it's one of the first livestock ppl put. Mexican turbo snails are good. I have a big one and it's perfect. And a few hermits. Don't over do it though. Bc then some will starve and die. In my 20 I have 3 hermits, 3 emeralds and a Mexican turbo snail. So far they keep everything in check.

OK cool. Turbo snails are quite expensive here at 10 bucks each, but I have some native algae eating snails in my 67gal that need to be thinned out a bit so I'll chuck some in the nano.

What????!!! That's crazy. I bought mine for $3.99... Yea go another route. Good idea!

What company is swf? Customs let are very strict about importing animals, so I don't think they will let it in:( there is a Aussie company that ships fish and stuff so I'll have a look and see what they have.

Sorry i haven't replied guys, I've been flat out lately.
A small update on the tank. I picked up a 11watt PC bulb in marine bulb and put the PC unit over the tank, the bulb isn't really bright but I think it will add some more blue light to the tank for better coral colours. I also have a small single t8 unit that I'm thinking of putting on the tank as well, I'll probably get a new marine blue tube for it. So with all those lights I hope I'll get some good growth and colors from the future corals.
Talking about corals, I had a tiny three polyp zoa frag in my 67 gal that I decided to put in the tank to see how it goes. The frag is only worth 5 bucks so there's nothing to really lose. I placed the frag just off the sand on some rock and within five minutes all polyps were fully open, it looks happy so far and it has great colors under the lighting and glows under the PC. I also added two snails as well.
The diatoms are starting to go away as well. I did my first water change today and the tank is looking great!
