Flame Angel with dark, diffuse patches

Just introduced a Flame Angel after formalin dip and quarantine. After about a week, it developed dark, diffuse, dusty-looking patches starting at just behind the eyes and distributed up towards the dorsal fin on both sides. Nothing discrete like a parasite, looks more like smudges of soot behind its eyes and farther back. In general, the orange-red background color does not seem as vibrant as when it was first brought home. Corals, Sailfin, Copperband and Chromis are doing well with no hint of a problem. Flame Angel is active, grazes on lots of live rock all day, gobbles up plenty of mysis and gills do not seem to be working overtime. If anything, it is hyperactive compared to its tank mates. No flashing or abberant behavior, just very active.

Sure would like to hear from somebody soon on this. Sailfin and Chromis are as old as the tank and the Copperband is still growing and doing well after more than a year.

Thanks,

George

Sorry, was in a hurry. See attached.

Just to close the post, our friends at WWM hit the nail on the head. Discoloration was "burn" due to formalin dip. Symptoms are fading and fish looks like it is on its way to full recovery and normal coloration.
