Flame angelfish

So, while I'm starting up my 26g bowfront really soon, I was thinking of a flame angelfish.

I have read around that they can nip at corals, and clams.

Later on in my tank, I will have a clam.

I really want to have in this tank...

2 true percula clowns
midas blenny
1 firefish

and if possible the flame angel.

Your tank is too small. Flames can be reef safe or not. Sometimes the reef safe ones have epiphany and become NOT reef safe.

We reefers call this event the Flame epiphany! lol!!!

Seriously though this is 100% correct. One of my good reefer buddies had a beautifull flame angel, and it was going on being in his reef for three years...then BAM, came home one day to this damn thing eating all of his corals! He left it for a day or two, as it use to nip at his corals occasionally, but it was no longer nipipng, it was destryoing his reef . So I got the call from him to help catch this thing (in a 270 gal mind you), lets just say that wasn't a very fun Saturday.

FWIW I had the exact same thing happen with an argi angel a while back. Went nuts on my wellsos, which I had 5 at the time, a week later I had none.

I have never had a problem with mine nipping my sps or my clam.
Not trying to say that it wont work long term, but Im curious as to how long you've had him?

I never thought that mine was nipping, but when I took him out there was an immediate increase in polyp extention and growth. Looking back, I am pretty sure that he was.

Generally, yeah. All angels (outside of genicanthus) are risky in a reef. My research has lead me to believe that Centropyge argi (Cherub/Pygmy angels) are among the least likely to start nipping.

Well, no. Initially it can be hit or miss but some of the ones that work, stop working. Same is true of regal angels.

Ok so, pretty much any angel will eventually nip at your corals, right?

So.. I guess I'm not going to get any type of angel.
