will a flame hawkfish eat my snails? If it does, what do people with flame hawkfish do to control algae? I also have a hippo tang and foxface in a 150g

They are pretty well behaved. Mine has sucked a snail out of it's shell but i think it had already died. Never had any problems with any of my other snails or hermits. Never tried it with shrimps however due to the possibilities of an expensive meal.

your foxface doesnt eat some of the algae? i had one w a yellow tang they controlled the algae for me im sure your foxface would help in that department

My flame hawk hasn't touched any of my inverts, including snails, fire and skunk cleaner shrimp, pistol shrimp (in holes), small crabs including pom pom/boxing crabs, conchs, cucumbers, etc in the 2 years he's been with me.

I was also thinking about a FH, but i do have two cleaner shrimp (fairly large one's 3-4") and snails and was worried about losing these tank mates. Plus I heard some FH get aggressive. My tank is very peaceful at this time and was worried the Flame would upset the balance. Do you have any problems with aggression or coral bothering?

Thanks,

Robka

No aggression issues, but they can and will eat cleaner shrimp. Sometimes you might get lucky . . .

I have had several flamehawks over the past few years and all have been model citizens. At the current time i have a pair of flamehawks that are about 1.5 inches in my 90 with a pair of blood shrimp. Prior to my tank crash, i had a flamehawk and speckled hawk in my 90 with a pair of scarlet cleaners. The hawks were the only fish to go to the cleaners to get serviced. They even clene the inside or their mouths. I have pics.posted on a local forum but can't find the originals to post here.

They are very cool and curious fish, here is a pic of my male that greets me everytime i walk in front of the tank.

Mine leaves my skunk cleaner alone, however I made sure to get a very large cleaner-- as big if not bigger than my hawk. I have however seen my hawk kill a snail now and then though..
