Flame Rose Bubble Tip Anemone?

nice nem phender i cant wait to see what it looks like in a week. i got my green BTA for 10, it was really small but has grown so much in like a month...probably at least doubled ins size

I've seen this color variant once in Tongs. They also called it flame rose due to the bright red base and tentacles plus the yellow tips. It is a very rare color morph of entacmaea quadricolor. I can't say if this particular one is not dyed but the one from Tongs was definitely natural. I would've splurged if my wife wasn't with me. I remember it was tagged for $650 and was sold the next day.

I am sure I was the first one to pm phender on dibs when it splits. the more of you that tell him you want one when it splits the higher the price goes. i would appreciate it if all of you would just telling him that so i can get it for about $20. thank you. ;)

The more folks discuss sales, trades, and transactions in a Discussion Forum, the more likely it is for a thread to be moved, disappear, etc.

A fine looking anemone should be given the continued chance to shine, let's stay on track.

Thanks.

I was out of town for a week there and missed this thread, just catching up now.

The colors on this anemone are truly exquisite! Please feel free to post as many as you like.

I know I sometimes feel a little self-conscious about posting pictures that are similar to others I've posted, so at least now I can say, from the other side of that perspective, post away, we don't mind!!! :)

How big is it now? Did you set up a new tank for it or throw it in with some others?

Is it true when RBTA's were first ava in the trade they were priced 500 bucks? Just heard that from a friend of mine that they were this much, is it true? Thanks.

Bluecarpet, the answer is yes. When they first became available for purchase they did become very expensive and were around 500.

That just amazes me. I still cant believe it. I can understand a gigantea to be in that price range but not the extreme colors of the bta's, its truly amazing.

No, the first ones I saw come from Tonga along with the first yellow leathers.
At the time they were between $80 - $100.

This was before the internet and hype didn't drive prices up.

The underside is the standard dark red/rust that you see in a lot of BTAs.

From your pic I don't think they look very much alike, but I know it is hard to reproduce the nuances of color in BTAs. The colors on my anemone are unusual in that they are rather opaque. Like I said, the very outer row of tentacles are green with "Cheetos" orange tips that go down 1/3 of the way. The other tentacles are hot pink with the same Cheetos orange tips.

I just saw 100s (maybe 1000s) of rose anemones at a wholesaler that were metalic green with orange tips, but the orange was more of a burnt orange and they were transparent. There were a few that were coppery colored, but none were even close to the Cheeto orange color. On close examination the color of the very tip of my anemone is actually yellow. The yellow then seems to blend with the pink to make orange and when the yellow stops only the pink is left.

Thanks, Phil.
The one I have has very light, almost white underside and tentecles are not bright like yours. They are more of blue/purple.
Cheers

Just a little update. The anemone is extending more in the day now. It is eating very well. It has regained its zooxanthellae which as in most cases dulled the hot pink color a bit.

It still is bright "cheetos" orange however, and still has hints of rose.
