Flatworm eXit

I have a 75 gallon tank, with a refugium system, no carbon socks or filter media. We have had a problem with flatworms for about a year now and they are not so terrible. They are not completely covering the ground or the rocks, they are not covering my corals or are even on my corals. We use a turkey baster to suck out about a hundred or so each day, and it is getting quite tiresome. We have tried a six-line wrasse but he kept attacking our mandarin, which we put in after the six-line.

My questions: Is flatworm eXit a good product? We have already bought it so no used discouraging us to buy it =). Also, what is the best way to do it and how do we keep the iodide levels from rising because I have heard the release that stuff when they die.

We are quite tired of seeing them. They do not affect our corals but it is tiresome and getting old very quickly.

Thanks!

Its good stuff but you need to follow the instructions to a T.

Suck every single one you can find out ever day for a week. Once you have done this then proceed as directed.

You must have a canister or media reactors and a lot of carbon. A bag of carbon won't work. You will also need a large amount of water on hand in case something goes bad.

The stuff itself is non toxic to the tank but the worms release poison as they die. It is important to suck them out of the tank immediately after you see them starting to die. You need a lot of fresh carbon running to remove this poison.

Do not start with a double dose like some might chime in with. You might get lucky but the first treatment shouldn't start with a double dose. If per the directions nothing happens then yes increase to a double dose.

You will have to retreat the tank in about 2 weeks. You might even have to do a 3rd treatment. It does not kill the eggs, just the live worms.

The 6 line is attacking the mandy because they compete for food. Remove it or the mandy will most likely die.

Don't worry, the six line jumped tank a long time ago and swam to the golden reef. Mandarin is fat as cattle.

All of what you said seems to be pretty rough. I have a canister filter, but it is currently being used by another tank. What else could I do with the carbon?

Unfortunately you will need something to force water through carbon.

I suggest getting a TLF 150 media reactor and a cobalt 1200 pump. Carbon is good to run on the tank anyways.

The 2nd and 3rd treatments will be minor. If you dip the rest of your additions odds are you will never see another flatworm again.
