Flatworm that is uneffected by Flatworm Exit

Hi,
I have a small flatworm population in my tank. I wanted to take care of them before the problem got out of hand. FE seemed like the answer. I dosed it and I thought it was working. I then realized that I was siphoning out still living flatworms. I decided to test to see if it was effective at killing these flatworms. I took about 12 specimens and divided them into two cups (about 4oz of water). The one that was tested had 5 drops added (enough to treat 5gal of water) to 4oz of water in the time span of 2 hrs. The 6 in the FE cup were doing as well as my control cup with no FE. They continued to live for 6hrs after that and would have probablly kept on living except I through them out.

How can I get rid of this type of flatworm? I am going to be upgrading tanks in 6months and I want to be able to move all my corals I have been growing in my tank to the new tank without fear of these flatworms. I do siphon them out, but there are so few that it seems too teadious to suck out 10 of them at a time. Any suggestions?

I had the same experience last week when I treated at 1.5-2x the dosage. I still have about 50% remaining. I am going to try a couple of velvet nudis to control pop.

Good luck.

I also did about 1.5x the dosage. Will the velvet nudibranchs remove the population or only control it? Is there anyway to prevent transfer of the flatworms on my corals when I get my new tank?

Why would you want to get rid of that type of flatworm?

Do you know for sure that they will become a pest? I doubt they will. That is not Red Planaria so I doubt it will ever become a plague. Enjoy them.
