Flesh receding on hammer

I have a 6 head hammer .On one of the heads the flesh is starting to recede . On single heads that Ive had before this is always the beginning of the end. Will it help to break off this head to keep the other 5 OK or does it matter at all? Thanks Peter

If one head dies it doesn't affect the rest of the colony.

I agree IME one head can be lost and the rest of the colony will be fine.
