Flow Question - 45g SPS/Mixed Reef

I have a 45gallon (36x12x24) tank, and currently have two modded Maxijets and two seio 620s. I'm wondering if I can get rid of the pumps and replace them with two Tunze 6060s that I have. I planned on using them in a 90g build (on Roger at Tunze's recommendation) but that tank isn't going to be put together. I currently have a 3" sand bed (crystalline silica) and will be changing my substrate to a true aragonite in the near future. I seem to be having a nitrate buildup issue and really think that the sand is trapping a ton of detritus. Will the Tunze's be too much flow (roughly 1600gph each) for a tank like this and would they be better suited if I was to make the tank BB? Thanks!

It might be too much but I would try it especially if you already have them.

That's kind of what I'm thinking but then I can't resell them as brand new if they don't work out!

I have a vortech mp40w on my 46 bow. I bought it for a future upgrade. I have it way turned down. I think the tunzes would work great and reduce the clutter of 4 powerheads.
