Fluval Sea SP4

Anyone have any thoughts, comments or experiences with this as a return pump?

I'm building a 120g with a 40B. I bought a Mag 9.5 which I think is a little under powered and won't be able to run additional things like reactors or even my refuge. Considering this one instead.

Thanks!

I have an SP6 on my 300 and have it throttled down and it feeds 4 returns to the tank. So thinking SP4 on 120 would be perfect as well as feed for a reactor or two.

I have a SP4 on my 120 with a bean overflow - getting 1200 gph @ 6 ft head. Virtually silent. Haven't had it long enough to comment on reliability, but it's worked well for a month!

Same as above I am running one on my 180. The Pump is amazing. It's running two reactors, feeding my fuge, and still throttled back for my returns at 5.6" head.

I have 2 SP4s and 1 SP2 and think they're great pumps. Had Jebao and Mag pumps before, and the Fluvals are just as quiet as the DC pumps and have a reputation to last.

If you want an AC pump this is probably one of the best for the cost. Very quiet. Good volume flow for a 120g.

I'm running one as a supplement. My external runs my DT and the sp4 runs everything else.

My only complaint is I wish I got the sp6. :D

It pushes a ton of water all joking aside. It's just easier to pay a little extra cash and dial it back rather than worrying about maxing it out.

You won't be disappointed.

I am also in the fence trying to decide between the SP4 and the Vectra M1 to replace my WaterBlaster HY-5000. I have read from some folks that the M1 is transferring more heat (around 2 degrees) if used in sump and that got me thinking..

Let's see what i finally decide.

I have 1 as the main return that will be doing my 860. It get great flow still, and is very quiet. I've only temp run mine, but I like the size, flow and quietness just in the testing, so I ordered another as a back up and to control my reactors.
