Foam Reef Wall For IM Nuvo16

I just used black pond foam and stuck in the rocks when it was still wet. I sprinkled aragonite on that also while still wet. Worked great! Then I glugged out a big pile of silicone and stuck it to the tank back wall on the top only.

Thanks for the response its a bit late for me to do the aragonite now. I have to figure out the epoxy that the person used to do the reef rock wall i originally saw.

Coated with epoxy and aragonite my only regret is not using my used dry aragonite since I think the color contrast would be less of a visual issue but time will cure that.

Test fitted and I will then silicone it in place then spray foam in between the side of the tank and wall. After it dries i will cost in resin and add more aragonite to make it look nice.

Im actually shocked theres minimal write ups on foam walls.

Meaning people doing step by step instructions and tips and list of recommended material needed. It took me a bit to figure out a resin that I could use and hell im still not sure if its going to work correctly lol.

So I did a bit more work on the foam rock wall tonight.

I foamed in the gap between the glass and the wall while trying to give it some dimension and spots that I can mount montipora caps on.

Overall im very pleased with the results so far.

A small update on my reef tanks foam wall.

I finally got a stand for the tank and put live sand in it leaving me only to figure out how to hang the light and place my liverock order.

So I ordered 15 pounds of this rock today from liverocknreef and am hoping to get some awesome shapes and rock to work with for the foundation of the reef.

Also pic is of the tank after it cleared up after the install of sand

This looks amazing. I've been DIY dry rock, and it's very difficult. It looks like I stumbled across the wrong DIY! ... Looks like I'm gonna look into this now

Nice I'm glad it inspired you to give it a shot.

The only thing I might have done different was crush liverock and use it instead of aragonite but I think the aragonite will get covered in coraline and encrusting coral pretty quickly so it doesn't matter that much.

Rough liverock aquascape and the hitch hikers that came on the live rock consisting of euclid worms, mantis shrimp and porities coral.
