Food for anemone question.

I am wondering if I can feed my anemone just raw fish chunks from the grocery store. I can get fresh halibut. Can they eat that? It's a RBT

I personally don't care to feed my nem too often. That being said, I will feed only raw seafood bought that day. I've used small pieces of fish, clams, shrimp.

It doesn't even need to be fed if lights are sufficient, but if you do small foods are best, mysis.
The most I ever spot feed my nem is a very small section of scallop, like less than a thimble.
If it's brand new I'd wait at least a week to let it settle first.

Make sure if you feed any food chunks that they are small (like size of a pencil eraser) and so fresh you would eat it yourself.

Clown anemones can grow from the size of a quarter to the size of a dinner plate with nothing other than sunlight and whatever random food they snatch out of the water. If you feed, it will accelerate growth, but you need to be very careful about food poison. As you have read on these forums, it has become clear that these animals have very limited ability to protect themselves from internal bacterial infection.

I agree. And no matter what anyone says (go ahead and yell at me), please stay away from silversides. I lost a beautiful ritteri after feeding him some. I've since learned that they often are not properly maintained in the cold-chain.

Most nem keepers pretty much agree silversides are not a good option, and I learned this when I lost 3 very healthy LTA's after a feeding, never again.

Yeah. We learn the hard way. Glad we can pass on our learning :)

What species of anemone?
I agree with what everybody said above. They can grow really fast if you feed them. I got 2-3 inches Gigantea grow to 18 inches in 10 months or so with feeding.
