Hello,

What food shoud I feed the Magnifica and Gigantea anemones to make them grow fast?

I have big tank; so the bigger they grow, the better.

Thanks,

P.S: I've been feeding them shrimps, but sometime they eat, sometime they don't.

Try a variety of fresh seafood. Get them fish, oyster. I got a bunch of sand trouts fishing a few weeks ago. Many of these trouts were full of eggs. I saved all these eggs, about 1/2 pound to use to feed my anemones. The all love eggs. IMO, the eggs should be very full of vitamins. They seem to like it a lot.

I feed magnifica smaller foods like mysis. I feed gigantea larger portions like pieces of table shrimp. The size of the piece of shrimp depends on the size of the anemone. My gigantea is 20+", so I feed it a whole shrimp, minus the head and exoskeleton.

my gigantea loves rod's food that i feed the clowns; i also target feed it small pieces of scallop that i keep in the freezer and thaw out before feeding.

It is better not to feed scallop or clams to the gig. I have issues with those food, because they don't eat those when they are on the ocean. The best result in growing for me was when I feeding small pieces of fresh raw fish

I feed mine pieces of table shrimp. I sometimes inject cyclopese into the piece of shrimp.
Don't know if this helps, but the anemone seems very healthy. I have also fed pieces of raw fish.

I think one of the study a long time ago, the author trying to estimate the age of an H. magnifica by observer the frequency that that anemone caught a scallop and by counting the number of scallop shells at the base of this anemone. Needless to say the study was not very good and was criticized heavily. The point here is that scallop can and are food for anemones.
On other point I like to make also is that terrestrial vegetable often use to fee tang, they do just fine. If I don't normal eat kangaroo (never in my life) then kangaroo meet is bad for me?

Very stupid point!, just to have a fun, like you normally do of other forums members.
Of course doesnt mean that is bad for you , but anemones as difficult to keep as the Giganteas are, what is the point to taking the risk to feed them something, that you don't know is going to be good or not?

I was sharing my point constrasted with other Giganteas keepers that I know, one of them a referent for all of us, Julian Sprung.
I think this place is to give good advices for people and more important to try to keep those beautiful animals as healthy as we can,
Not to have fun of other members advices, go find another place to express your superiority!

Bay scallops from the grocery store (frozen) is what my H. Mag has eaten every 2-3 days for the past year.

They are thawed with Rods food that is fed to the fish, and the scallop and Rods is soaked in garlic and Selcon. The bay scallops are a little bigger than a nickel.

The Mag has grown from about 5-6" to probably 18-20" over the past year.

If there is a bigger piece of octopus or shrimp in the Rods blend, I will feed that too.

I just want to give opinion on an advice that may not be good. I am sorry that you are offended.
Personally I feed shellfish to my anemones often with no problem. I would avoid given the same thing all the time. Given an animal (or human) variety and it will get all the micro nutrients it need to do well.

I don't feed them aquarium frozen food because most LFS would not discard frozen food shipment that got thawed out during shipping. They just refreeze it and sell it.

Food for human consumption got treat much better while shipping. It there is problem with the freezer and it got thawed out they will be discard. I have lost an anemone from bad food and have not use frozen food for aquarium since.
