Food for NPC?

Well, it isn't just for NPC but for fish as well. I made 19lb of fish food a few days ago. I put everything through a meat grinder instead of a blender. Here is a list of things I added into the food:

Large shrimp with head/shell and all
Anchovies
Smelt
Salmon roe(0.5lb)
Phyto/filter feeder food
Mysis
Krill
Dry and frozen cyclop-eeze
Fish oil from the pills
Tuna(3lb)
Silverfish
Squid
Cuttle fish
Baby brine shrimp
Adult brine shrimp
Muscles
Salmon meat
Red nori
Green nori
Purple Nori
Sea lettuce
Fresh garlic
A tiny bit of Iodine
Sponge
Sturgeon fish bone
Urchin roe
Zooplankton, worlds finest fishfood(1 bottle)
Sand crabs
Very large amphipods
Lemon juice
Clam
Sand shrimp
Hikari Marine pellets S and A
Aqueon Marine Granules pellets

I put all the fish/shrimp through the meat grinder with their head/guts, bones and all.

In zip lock bags. Each bag is 1lb, so there are 19 bags.

Tomorrow, I'm going to thaw one bag and put it through a blender and make it for very fine filter feeders such as sponges, carnation corals, gorgonians, scallops, ect and see how they like it.

How long do you estimate it will take you to finish
it all?

Very cool, do keep us updated with how your corals respond to this food. Doing the feeding this way should be a lot cheaper than just buying prepackaged frozen food. However, after you freeze the food, how are you going to break off bits of it to feed your tank?

LOL Yeah, it smelled pretty good!
Umm... I sold 2 lb to a local so I now have 17 lb. The 17lb SHOULD last me at least about a year-1.3 years hopefully.

Very cool, do keep us updated with how your corals respond to this food. Doing the feeding this way should be a lot cheaper than just buying prepackaged frozen food. However, after you freeze the food, how are you going to break off bits of it to feed your tank?

Thanks! Will do. Yeah, its WAYY cheaper than buying prepackaged food. Rods food is $41 per lb!! :eek1: Yup, I cut off bits with a knife, let it thaw, then feed to tank.

All my livestock goes CRAZY for it! lol

You can always vacuum seal it.

Liquefied it.

Made 6 bags at half lb each.

Freezer burn happens in a typical freezer because you always have a cycling of temperature. If you have a nice large freezer, place these bags into a Styrofoam cooler with a few ice packs within the freezer. That should help to some extent. Long-term, however, the quality will probably decrease if you go well beyond six months or so.
