we aquired a blue/green haddoni carpet on sundat. after acclimation it looked pretty rough. mouth wide open and a little of the insides sticking out. two days later it looks much, much better! mouth is closed, and its extended its rim nicely. BUT he has not attached yet. i dug a hole and put him almost directly on bottom glass, turned all the flow way down (powerheads off) and still after two days it has not attached.

is this normal behavior? any other ways about convincing it to attache?

also, i have read a few notes saying wrasses are not anenome safe. i have a mystery wrasse supossedly reef safe (although im pretty sure he's put a huge dent in my CUC :fun2: ) and i just want to make sure he wont harm the haddoni

any help will be great, thanks guys and gals :wildone:

I purchased a Blue haddoni that I thought I could save a few weeks ago dirt cheap. Same symptoms... He ended up hiding in the rocks and almost crashing my tank when he croaked! I don't have High hopes for him so keep an eye out cause that will cause some damage if it dies.
I wish you the best of luck tho, Let me know how it goes so If i rescue another one.

About the wrasse, I can't imagine a heathy Haddoni being harmed by any fish! Not saying its impossible, but A healthy Haddoni is super sticky. And very potent. One tough fish to take on a Haddoni.... Ty

hey thanks man! how will i know if the thing croaks? any tell tale signs?

Turns white and you ammonia will spike. Starts to melt and stinks... You will notice when if it starts to degrade. I would keep a close eye on it make sure it doesnt get into the rocks. Mine crawled all over the place, well over a foot up the rocks then disappeared and died... I hope yours gets settled. maybe feed medicated food idk. I tried to fee mine it would eat REALLY slow and then regurgitate a few hours later. Table shrimp and Grouper Fillet bits.

I Have found if a anemone does not attach within a day they do not survive. Might be some damage to the foot.

With carpet anemones really not many fish are safe.
