Footloose and Fancy Free

My anemone has decided to get rid of his foot or vice versa. I bought a display tank in April from an LFS that closed it's doors. The 34 gallon 'Solana' had four relatively small anemones. One anemone kept moving almost every day. I understand that means the little guy wasn't happy so I moved him to a seperate tank. The remaining 3 anemone's claimed their territory and life was good. So good that they've grown fairly large. But they still seemed happy until.............

Is there any hope for the footless anemone or the foot to survive?
I've got the anemone in a perforated container so in case of death it won't foul up the tank.

wow ive never seen this. (not that I have much exp. with anemones) It looks healthy otherwise though. good luck :)

I too have never seen this and was waiting for someone else to chime in. Looks like that's a condy that it dropped from - right?

Otherwise - I have to say that in my opinion all 3 anemones look like they are in great health and happy... I'm glad to see that as once I move I'll be getting a 34 Solano and looks like yours are doing well in it.

That's weird..... I've never seen or heard anything like that.... Probably not a good idea, but I know if you cut a mushroom at the base then the base would grow back to full and the top mushroom party would grow a foot. Maybe it will do the same thing?

Flavum - Thanks (your psychedelic avatar's cool)

kimsi - You'll love the 'Solana'. Sorry, don't know if that's a condy.
I'm not up on my anemone types.

Gig'em - I think I'll pass on cutting the anemone at the base for now unless others have tried this.

Tufacody - It can't hold on to anything. It'll just float around the tank. Because of the other anemone's and the possibilty it might get caught in the overflow, I had to put it in a perforated container.

I belong to a club in California. We have a member that had a similar experience.

This could actually be a perfect (unfortunately) example of chemical warfare between anems. That is a guess, but it is the only logical thing I can think of, unless you have any peppermint shrimp in there...

There is no room for those anemones to grow. They get a lot bigger than that you know. Yes the purple one is a condy. I am not sure if it would be ok losing its foot.
Peppermint shrimp like to eat anemones, that is what Dave is talking about.
