For all you Coralife Super Skimmer users - you gotta check this out!

I caught this thread yesterday and it immediately got my attention. I am currently running a Coralife 220 on my big fish only tank till I can upgrade to an ASM G4-X. This mod really doubles the efficiency of these already good skimmers. Good thing is, this mod can be done to most skimmers by simply using fishing line. Overnight results have simply amazed me. I cannot believe what this thing is skimming now. I know alot of you guys are using this skimmer so you need to do this. It only takes 5 minutes to do as well!

just ordered a cs220.
q1: would a lighter line work better??
q2: any heads ups about this skimmer and set up/break in time?

The lighter line may work better if you weave it more. What you want to avoid is making the impeller too heavy by wrapping it too much. It will slow the impeller down too much to be efficient.

Basically this just chops the air bubbles up to into a much finer skim.

Ron, I wrapped mine 3 times the first try and then 4. 4 wraps works much better. I didn't try to wrap it more than 4. Just make sure you get the outside wrapped just like the guys' picture he posted. I love these free mods.

I think this would make a nice demo/discussion at the swap if you are up to it?

Just bring some before and after pics of yours and I'll supply the skimmer and needle wheel if you like? We could even do a small workshop and have anyone who wants bring in their needle wheel from their Supper Skimmer?
