For Sale Section

I'm pretty sure you can't access the for sale section until you have been a member for 90 days. So I'm not sure that this is the place but I would rather talk to local people than somebody else far away.

I am looking for used equipment since I am on a budget at the moment but want to keep up the higest quality possible till I can afford what I really want for this tank.

My first biggest concern is a filtering system. I would like to set up a sump system with hopefully a refugium. If anybody has any tips on setting one up on a budget or knows of a good used one that would be awesome. I want to save up for a lifereef system they are top quality from what I have seen and I talked to the guy from there the other day and he was super nice and explained alot about sump systems.

Thanks again and look forward to the upcoming meeting!

Knox. im not 100 % local. but what are you looking at doing? what size tank? that will dictate your sump size to an extent. personally, a custom sump is my preference. you can set it up the way you want to and then go from there. http://www.melevsreef.com/ is a great reference for custom sumps with Refugiums. DIY can be your best friend for going cheap. I made my 150 gallon sump out of a rubbermaid tub from TSC. it was $125. I am selling a 75 gallon sump for $50 but im a good ways away for that to be a good deal to you.

We would need more info if your looking for equipment. What is the size of your tank and your purpose (reef or fish only). Your filtering system depends on the size tank and bio load you are going to have in your system. If you are going with a larger tank, think about having overflows and run a sump.

Alot of items can be shipped and you probably can find lots of good deals to if you look outside your local area too.

More info pls.

Sorry I should have put more info in my first post.

My tank is a 135 72x18x24 right now I have about a 100lbs of live rock and about a 3" sand bed. Currently I am running two slightly haggard hob filters they seem to be doing the job for my current bio load which is 1 Sailfin Tang, 1 Yellow Tail Damsel, 1 Coral Beauty Angel, 1 Six Line Wrasse, 1 Gramma and 12 snails. Right now I have a few mushrooms and a few zoas and some starburst polyp.

I don't want to drill my tank as it sits too close to the wall to get behind it so I want to go with a good overflow like a lifereef. I would love to have a lifereef complete setup but that is way out of my price range right now. I want to run a refugium and pretty much just want to stick with zoas and soft corals and good community fish and inverts. I'm pretty much looking for a good diagram on how to set up a refugium/sump system.

Thanks for all the input:beer:

I think you could make one if you want to get handy. that website I posted is a great start for diagrams and suggestions. with just a little ingenuity you can get what you want for a whole lot less than buying a "package system." I bought one once. it went into the DB (dumb@zz bucket) and i had Glass cages build a custom sump for me. that was a good sump for hte last 4 years of my 75. now im using a 150 gallon rubbermaid sump that I have put baffles into . works well.

as for drilling your tank. you would have to completely tear it down to safely and properly drill it IMHO.

FWIW, I had a kick *** CPR overflow that performed very well for me. I fan about 900gph thru it and only had one of hte drains utilized. it was very low profile and did well.

PM me modifyd if you want to sell it. My only problem would be trying to get it into my cabinet so dimensions are pretty important. I could fit pretty much a length of up to 50 inches and up to 14 1/2 inches wide and 20 inches tall. Now I could do some cutting to get stuff in there if I had to but would prefer not to if I can help it.

Custom may be the way to go here. I want to run at least a 30 gallon sump with a refugium.

Thanks for the replies!
