This was posted a lot earlier( 1 year +) Id just like to add my .02 to this thread; generally when fish come to the surface to try and "feed" when theres no food it means that the fish is trying to eat the slick of bacteria and other items that collect at the tanks surface. Most tanks dont have stagnant zones but sometimes you'll find them at the corners. This is why I think SD guys fish was going to the corners to nibble at the surface. I think adding some sort of additive to the foods may help. I dont think the problem is harmful to the fish.
