I am looking to buy a bucket of salt, probably Seachem or Tropic Marin, but really don't need a full bucket, more like 1/4 or a 1/3. Do other people want to go in on a bucket?
brett, I don't think it goes bad as long as you keep it properly closed when not using it. I went through a bucket without too much difficulty with my 40b, so if you're doing water changes it shouldn't be too hard to use it all.
yeah it goes fast! I keep a bag of dessicant in all of my buckets- there is no sticking or any other issues- and some buckets take a year to use. The key is to keep it tightly shut though, salt will become contaminated as it will adsorb or absorb pollutants from the air.
I use the general silica pacs I find in all of the glorously expensive personal items I buy. I used to manage a pharmacy- and we saved all of them in a tub- so you might ask at the drug store. I put a half a dozen in a little drawstring filter bag.
