For those of running dosers in our SPS tanks.. what are you using?

I too am using the Bubble Magus 3 doser. Very simple and easy to setup and run. Makes life so much easier. I ran it 2 days just testing it with water and it ran fine so I put in on the main tank. Set your total ml then set how many times you want that amount added within a 24 hour period. Awesome units IMO.

Well, after typing all this out I came to the conclusion that I really shouldn't settle with something that doesn't do exactly what I want. I called up AquaCave explained to them I wasn't happy with how I perceived the product would work and asked if I can return it and get an Apex instead. They said no problem and sent me an RMA. So I'm going to run home at lunch and ship back the GHL. Then upgrade my AcJr to an Apex. Which will be sort of nice since I already have 2 DC8's, all the probes, and the dosers already and between the ability to do OSC down to the second now, and the ability to use the DEFER function. With OSC & Seconds I can setup my dosers as close to how I would want them to work.

The only downside to the apex (and what me not want to go that route in the first place) is the time function only works on the minute not the second. So if I wanted to set my dosers up to only work via a specific time range I can't get the precision that I can with the OSC function as I'm stuck w/the same issue I have with my Acjr which is only multiples of 1.1/m. The upside to it all is if I DO end up having to do some nutty custom programming to get what I want because I'm making things to complex..At least I can do it from my computer vs mashing buttons on a little interface.

I would like to use the OSC with my Apex, but never quite got it working correctly, so I went manual.

What issues did you run into? me and a friend built some spread sheet calculators where you type in the number of doses, and the total amount and it spits out what the OSC number should be. I need to adjust it so it works off /60 not /100 since I'll be able to do seconds now but it's how we've been figuring out how to program my acjr and her ac3 (now apex)

to figure out OSC on it's (Total Dosage / number of doses* ) rate of doser

*number of doses must be 2, 4, 6, 8, 12, 24 if you want it to dose evenly in a 24 hour period.

OSC off is ( 1440 / number of doses) - OSC ON

i have the apex set to advanced and just dose the alk at night and calcium during the day i randomly set the time 10min on one hour, 30min on the next and so on, a total of 120ml each i personally don't see the point of dosing every hour for one minute, while being a bit more stable i think its overkill. what about 5 min which is only 5.5 ml an hour. I would rather save the control from switching on and off to much. With the advanced aex mode its very easy and dependably. I have insane growth and numbers are spot on. Just need to remember to keep the jugs filled lost a coral once because i ran out of calcium and the alk spiked oops
