For those of you that make trips to the beach for critters...

Im thinking sat. morning like 9 or 10 am somewhere on I-4. I live in Ocoee, so im taking the 429 to I-4. Anywhere around there or a rest area by lakeland. Or on 27 and I-4. Something like that. Does everyone have there license?

How bout the Burger King on 27 at 9? If your heading south on I4 you get off at Haines City (Hwy 27) and go west/north about 1 mile, and its on the right side, next to the waffle house.

If you all go this Saturday, I would be happy to join you (wife and kid would tag along). Have you decided where you are going, either gulf or atlantic? Do you know the locations yet?

there is a bucket top at walmart that has a bubbler that just needs two d batteries and a bucket - its pretty cool - i have one - thats what i would suggest

you guys cant just pic times, you need to go at low low tide. get a seine or make a net. there is no need to norkel and it IS cold. make a net that looks like a big flyswatter and push it through the seagrass, or use a seine.

Good luck to you guys this weekend. I'm going to be out of town, but I'd be interested to see how you do at the Skyway bridge.

I should be able to go the following weekend (Feb 17 or 18th) if anyone wants to do an East coast trip to Sebastian.

Once I figure out my schedule I'll post an open invite in a new thread.

seine is a type of net. Its like what you use to catch minnows in a creek. But they are hard to use (if you have a larger one) and require at least two people

Hey guys, this is Becca, Im Sytanek's wife. I found seine nets at Bass Pro Shop in Orlando. We are going to pick some up on Friday. They are 4ftX8ft and are $13.99 plus tax. So if any of you want us to grab some for you while we are there, then just PM Sytanek and let him know. I cant wait to go!

anyone know if it's better to go a day after a big storm? i would think it could wash in more variety.
and are you guys quarantining the stuff you get? i'm going to go out there some time next month, but was worried about pollution from the boats and jetskis.

Becca. Can I just spilt it with you and use yours with you guys. I dont think my friend is going to be going with me, I dont think I could walk with a 4x 8ft net by myself.

Yes I am going to quarantin what I catch.

Ok sorry I havent been on all day out of state working until Friday am, luse that is fine you can share with us. Yes I would recommend everyone QT what they catch.

Well we have the net issue covered now, and Im working on the tide part.

Can you provide us any more insight into specific details of where the grass beds are we should be trying??

ya look up tampa tide charts, and look for one near the skyway bridge. then go at low tide and walk out into the water. you will see patches of sea grass all over. please please dont take any seahorses though. maybe not pipefish either. It is not worth introducing any crazy diseases...
