Found a nice gigantea this weekend.

yes the pics in my link are definitely aquarium photos. just another example of the invaluable need for well documented photographs and footage of these animals in their natural environment.

......
No clowns in this one but pink skunks in others around. Funny, its supposed not to be here according to many text books.
.........
and finally a view of the general habitat they are found in here
.......
Were there lots of S. gigantea around in this area? Can you give us an estimate as to how many anemones, how many anemone species, how many clown fish and how many clown fish species you observed? I am sure I will turn even greener with envy reading your reply.
Thanks for sharing your pictures

Anywhere on the islands and sometimes on the mainland coast (although runoff and pollution inhibit claer water and so good anemone habitat) of the eastern and western seaboard (gulf of thailand) where there is this kind of habitat there are gigantea's magnifica's haddoni's and LTA's. In the gulf I have observed pink skunks and A. polymnus only.
The andaman side is much more diverse, I have observed S. gigantea H. crispa, H. magnifica, red, green and orange BTA colonies, S. mertensii, M. doreensis, H. aurora and C. adhesium. and the following fish A. clarkii, A allakopsis, A. ocellaris, A. Sebae A eppiphium.
In this bay I have seen about 10 individual Giganteas ( all the same colour morph) ranging in size fro a few inches to 20 inches across. The island has 20-30 small bays and there are say 15 islands in the same vicinity, but thay are smaller. There is very little diving and snorkelling in this area because favourable conditiond are not frequent and to be honest most people are not looking for clownfish and anemones!
