Thanks to Capn Highliner I checked my tap water none in tap water . Checked RO/DO outlet to storage barrel none. Checked storage barrel 0.25 same as tank was testing after water change. Now I keep my wate two or three weeks always add to what is left when plastic garbage container gets low. It's been said here that you can store water up to a month . I haven't circulated it would this help. Also does anyone know why I'm picking up amonia through storing the water .Also no salt has been aded to this container.

I would ditch the container and buy a different one, somethings are not worth the risk.

Ya think it's comming out of container . It's rubbermaid $37 bucks hate to throw it away but I will if it comes to that.

Do you cover it? Maybe something's getting in there and dying. Possible algae growth and die-off if the water is sitting for long periods of time without circulation or being exposed to light...
It sounds like an unusual situation your dealing with.

This could be just a bad test or test kit--unless someone has been using windex or similar in the same room, on the tank top etc, windows beside it--if sprayed in the air it can settle and dissovle in the water

Nope it's covered. I'm going to make some more water and test before I use it. Then see where I'm at . I doubt if it's comming out of plastic.

It could be bad test kit, test the water coming out of RO/DI unit and/or buy distilled water and check that to rule out bad test kit.

Ro/DI comming out good . I think keeping water too long it started to degrade. I never realy use all of it have a couple of gallons left. I just add to it.

Well tested the RO/DI twice and tap water twice shows between 0 and 0.25 but it's there Before and after it comes out of filter. I installed filter 8/12/07 and have made about 400 gal of water since then . I have never let filter dry out I just shut water off to it . So is there a problem. By the way the unit is a coralife 50 gal a day unit.

bring some with you one Monday night:lol:

Ronny its cool your in here and trying but i see many threads of differant topics and this makes me feel your overwhelmed and confused.

I think if you stop what your doing and rethink your whole tank from top to bottom you might get a better hold. And i dont mean redoing the tank only re thinking it.If you can get the basics undercontrol and understand them things will be much better for you

A couple of thoughts.:
Ro /di water is very pure and will readily absorb molecules out of the air not to mention dust and in my case dog hair.I cover my rubbermaid ruff neck.

I'm not sure if ammonia test kits work well on pure di water. Maybe you could test newly mixed salt water to see if you still get an ammonia reading.More likely, the test is off.

I used the test kit that I use for my fresh wate tank. I just found the amonia there and was concerned about it. It's very little but it's there. I tested my fresh tank and it showed an absolute bright yellow that = 0 amonia. Ya Demonsp not overwhelmed but this tank seeing it's so small keeps the maintainence of it chalenging. Very difficult so many parameters to deal with. But if it were not for this forem I would not have been abe to get as ar as i have. Just some very I will say not as nice to deal with like everywhere else in the world.
