They are in a spare nano tank I have set up, are they ok to put into my main DT? sorry for a big pic, it wouldn't let me resize it. if you need better pics just ask, ill try to get better for you.

just a note on these guys. if they exit the tank, you need to remove their snail trail or else they'll continue to follow it out of the tank every night.

other than the occasional escape, they're great algae eaters.

nerites, they are pretty expensive in the pet store, I wish I was close to your beach.

I think they are considered brackish snails. I have heard people use them as algae eater in a fresh water set ups. The pros is that they will lay eggs in FW, but none of the eggs will hatch. Apparently in FW hobby it is bad to have snails multiply in your tank.

Actually, some live in saltwater, some in brackish water, and some in fresh water. The ones from fresh water and brackish water should be able to reproduce in fresh water.

Cheers,

Don

we did a group buy in the club I am in and I got 30 for like 7 bucks but in a LFS I haven't seen a snail under 1.50 each I know I have to order a bunch I am going to get a lot order and just see the rest off here locally. cheaper to order on line or go to the beach and pick some up.
