Four more gorgeous RBTA on Diver's Den update tonight

dr. Mac and sons had one and phishybusiness.com has one. Dr. Macs have the best price. The phishy business one is really nicely colored.

i would not put it past someone to start propping these anems in a lagoon somewhere in the pacific but they are probobly all from the ocean

No idea on the realities of that, I just know my GBTA is having a hard time acclimating. Even if they're maricultured in the ocean, they are still going to go through an acclimation to tank life.

It is really crazy on BTA's dependant upon where you live...in our area there are a lot of people with BTA tanks, with AC'ed BTA's and with fairly regular splitting BTA's. I got mine for $25 at a club auction. It has turned into three now. I was at another auction where two were sold at $20 each. Someone on our club forum just sold two of the REDDEST BTA's I've ever seen for $35 each. Then again, we have an awesome club where deals come around very often. The teal tort(3" fat single branch) and the purple tort(1.5"single branch) I have were auctioned and I won them for a whopping grand total of $21!!

I am not sure you can compare local frag trading to the general costs of livestock on the commercial end of the hobby. If a LFS is able to get their hands on AC'ed livestock from a hobbyist you pretty much have to think that they are selling them to the store for the prices you noted above. The store then has to add a markup in order to cover costs to pay overhead.
I agree that the liveaquaria costs is on the high side but not anything outrageous compared to what they generally sell for. LA also has the best guarantee policy in the industry so you pretty much have to assume they are charging for that in their livestock prices.
Around my area I usually see AC'ed RBTA's ranging any where from $60-$150 depending on color and size and these are generally normal colored.

i guess ill be a poor sap...we dont get the selection here of RBTA at all in our LFS...in fact, i can think of only 2-3 times i have ever seen one for sale in the last 10 years.

I've never seen one with that kind of color, no. I've seen some GBTA's at a few LFS, and Reef Science has RBTA's on occasion (I bought my red-green morph from him a year or so ago).

There's still one left as of 2pm sabodish, and they update anywhere from 5pm to 7pm so I hope you get one. :) I'd love to see it when you do. :)

They had more today all with different color variations. I decided to get one that had some orange-ish colored tips. I also bit the bullet and picked up a pair of Blue Stripe clowns. I will post pics when everything arrives.

I'm not sure which one sabodish bought but I saved the pix of the four that this post was originally about. Will put them on photobucket in a bit right now I'm falling asleep from cold meds again and hoping to kick this stupid cold/flu virus so I can get stuff done *yawn*

Wow that is a very nice RBTA. I wonder if these are clones are WC anemones that Dr. Foster gets. I am assuming they are WC. I wonder what depth they collect their E. Quadricolors at because they have amazing colors.

I'd like to know that as well, wonder if they'd tell us? My GBTA would have an easier time acclimating if I knew more about where it was collected from...
