I haven't seen any dyed RBTA's in a while. I think the industry has caught on and they are not coming in as frequently as they were last year. On the other hand, I have been seeing dyed Sebae's left and right.

I've seen those dyed Sebae as well. :( Saw one that was neon yellow at an LFS a few weeks ago. *growl*

No, ime, they werent dyed. Dyed anemone's have the foot the same color as the rest of the anemone 99% of the time. These anemone naturally have green bases with the bright red tentacles and main body. They lost it over time because of the unnatural enviroment that was different then where they came from....
They wouldnt bleach because of wrong conditions, the light isn't the problem, it is the warmer water imo.
Fwiw, my rose is the water quality diminish's or when it over heated. It faded to brown. With better water quality, it got its bright red color back.
fwiw

Touche. :)

I don't *know* any were dyed. I've heard numerous complaints that the Chinese bta's turned brown and soon died in tanks. I suppose it could be assumed they were dyed because of that, but I never saw any myself to know either way.

Look like they are all sold. Its crazy the prices some of these things go for online. All you need is a good picture and people will pay anything.

people will pay for quality livestock no matter what the price is..but when you factor in the quality factor, the desire of the hobbyist to obtain a particular item, and the fact that these items are NOT AVAILABLE in our areas like they are in CA and FL, then we have to pay the price...it has very little to do with just a "good picture"

Live Aquaria also has one of the best guarantees and customer service in the industry IMHO. You pay more to defray their costs on that, but if it's your $200 or more 'nem that dies in shipping, you're probably happy to have that guarantee to fall back on.

trust me, im more than happy with the warranty they offer...ill be watching this thing like a hawk for all 14 days of their alive warranty.

well, i received my RBTA this morning at 930..even though i upgraded the shipping to have it by 830...

first impression in the bag...sweet color..decent size

i acclimated her for 45 minutes and placed it on the bottom of my tank where i want it to sit...it appears the foot of the anemone i purchased is a brown/reddish brown color and not green as many have reported...do you guys think this one is dyed and will fair poorly in my tank??

i took a few pics, which i will post tonight at around 10ish..cant wait to see how it looks when i get home at 5pm

I Highly doubt l/a would sell anything dyed. I am positive your anemone isn't dyed. Good luck with it, it should do well. Can't wait to see the pictures.

I have rose bta morphs with pink feet and some with brownish-tan feet, same with the greens. I *think* the "acid test" for a dyed 'nem is if the mouth is the same or brighter color than the body. I saw a neon yellow Sebae at one LFS recently and the mouth was bright orange.

Congrats! Looking forward to pics!

well, based on your insight im starting to feel a little better...im so tempted to leave work and see how she is doing!

well, as promised, here are the pics..i did a little time lapse here so you can see how it has progressed over the day...so far, im happy with the way its acclimating, it stayed in almost the exact same spot i placed it originally and now has stuck its foot under the rock and looks pretty content..nice red color, and should have a green center when it fully opens...now, on to the pics

in the shipping bag
