Foxface + Algae Test?

Greetings All- I am having an algae bloom in my 60g tank. Will a Foxface eat this algae? My foxface is currently in my QT tank for suspected ick so I am thinking of picking some algae off the rocks in the display tank and putting it into the QT to test? does this sound like a viable idea?

if the foxface does not eat the separated algae does this mean he/she will not eat it off the rock or visa-versa? Also will a yellow tang usually this type of algae? I am considering getting one in the future.

Thanks!!

green algae. it was caused due to me being away for a few days during the Christmas holiday. No one was home to clean the class and algae started to form on the rocks and glass. The tank had been up as a FOWLR for 8 months and was turned into reef tank about 6 weeks ago.

There are a million types of green algae. I'm assuming that you are talking about some form of film algae. A foxface won't do much for that. They will eat some types of green macro algae. For film, snails are the best bet. Most snails other than nassarius will help clean it up.

If it's film algae, you should be able to just scrape it off the glass. Don't worry about it on the rocks. Some blennies eat film algae (ie: tailspot blenny).

If it is GHA it is hit or miss . I had one won't touch the stuff had to feed it nori and it did eat mysis . stubby

hair algae. i started looking at pictures of different types of saltwater nuisance algae online and it looks like hair algae.

i have cleaned all the class and most of the 'heavily populated' rocks. my nitrates are fairly high so I am doing frequent water changes.

any livestock suggestions to eat this nuisance? thanks!
