foxface secreting a clear almost smoky film

FWIW, I kept S. vulpinus for about 8 years, and it was about 7" TL when I lost it due to a tank crash after a move. And it did indeed shed its cuticle.

It was one of my fave fish at the time, and Renee (seahorsedreams) really spoiled it once she came to live in CA.

Sorry to go a bit off topic, but are these fish relatively hardy and are prone to diseases?

I have had my One Spot Foxface Rabbitfish for 2 years now. Beautiful fish, and very peaceful. They are hardy, I had an outbreak for ich, and it was one of the last fish to show signs of the disease. Treated him with copper, and he's all good now. I would heartily recommend this fish, as they are such an interesting peaceful fish to keep in the tank. Although they are venomous, my one has never stung me, and... well you know how often your hands are in the tank.

If you're thinking about getting one, do it. You will not regret it!
