foxfaces - cool underrated fish?

That was my next question. When I first got him home he would stay away if I had to put my hand in the tank, now he has become a little more curious and a lot closer. I think it's just a matter of time.

I have kept marine tanks for over 30 years, and have kept venomous fish (lions, scorps, rabbitfish/foxfaces) most of that time. I have never been stung by any venomous fish. You need to be aware of where the fish is when you put your hands in the tank. If fish are panicking, take your hands out. "Herd" fish into containers if they need to be moved - netting is a risk to the fish and a risk of you being stung. With reasonable care, the risk of being stung is low.

For utility of algae removal, I think they're much better than tangs. That said, mine has recently lost his taste for hair algae, so I blame him for the fact that I've had to do a little more work (and a little less feeding) in the last few weeks.

Y'all have just about got me convinced my next fish should be a foxface.

I'd like to keep zoas, though, have heard foxfaces can develop a taste for these. I think though the fish would stay if it started eating my zoas, and I'd just have to figure out a different coral.

i had three fox faces at different times, and i've also had a rabbit fish at the same time as one of those fox faces, lovely fish. so pretty, i love how they camouflage with the rock while they sleep. it use to be really hard to find it. the two bigger ones i had were never scared when i would walk around, but the 3rd one i had was about an inch and a half and it would never come out when i was around, if by chance he was out and i walked in the room it would dash into the rocks, after a while i just got tired of it and traded it into my LFS. i was weary of getting another one because i read "reef safe with caution" on live aquaria. but i think i might just give it another shot because they are really stunning.
