Frag plugs. I hates them

I absolutely hate the way they look. When I'm done killing off the aefw in quarantine I'm removing those silly plugs off my acropora. I understand the purpose they serve, but I'd rather buy Acropora loose or on a nice piece of live rock. Wish vendors would find a more aesthetically alternative to frag plugs.

/rant.

A while ago I bought a bag of large coral ruble and made up my own frag plugs - choosing some flatish pieces for the top of the plug and then gluing a short stub on the underside so it sat in the frag rack OK but then breaks off easily before gluing the plug to its final home in the tank. Works really well and looks far more natural that a perfect circle or square, even when encrusted over

the worst are the ORA frag plugs.

only able to be cut with an extremely sharp light saber, and most of the time the coral is too encrusted to easily break loose.

i have more than one of them buried under a pile of epoxy in my rock work.

pay no attention to the frag plug behind the curtain.

I agree with you. I don't understand why they don't make plugs with a curved top and no rim so that as the coral grows over the plug and onto the rock you have a natural transition.

From what I can tell, these plugs are molded, so it should be simple to make an appropriately shaped mold.

Don't get me started on those plastic plugs of death. I tired to cut one off and literally exploded an Acro into three pieces. Two of them ended up on the floor. Yeah....:headwalls:
