Hmm, I am that guy!
I know that some people have swapped at other shows ans I would have been more than happy to swap. Wish I had known you were there.
We certainly need to address the "swap" end of the shows.

Hmm, I am that guy! I thought the whole idea of a "frag swap" was to trade. I didn't think I had enough good stuff to get a table. I had two things to sell and the rest was to trade. I was under the impression people were going to be there with their stuff trading, etc. I knew there would be vendors but I thought there would be many more there trading with each other. I had a good time though and glad I came. Thanks for having me and sorry if I offended anyone.

Kyle

You were fine, no worries.

I think the swap side of it should be encouraged, I got some good stuff by swapping.

Kyle you definitely had some good stuff. Maybe next year you will set up a tank to display it.

Hey Kyle, You were not the only one doing it and I did not mean any ill will when I said it. I was only asking for my general information for next years swap. We were glad to have you and Diane loves her bubble tip.

Guys, I'll try and put us back on point.

As previously stated a bunch, GREAT Job this year; especially when you consider THIS was a last minute alternative site.

I too wouldn't mind being on the Committee for next year either. I've got a myriad of experience in running Trade shows that could lend itself to this. (I pulled the cat aside from Reef Nutrition (Mr. Reed, right?) and talked to him off-line. I recommended he edit his presentation down to a shorter pitch, more high-level because hey, we’re not Norwegian scientists. That way, he could also do it two of three times a day, because typically the crowd turns over, morning to afternoon. He said he appreciated my comments. I was trying to be helpful. And I bought some of his “bugs”.)

There are some great ideas above here already, but here’s couple more ideas though:

1) Organize the Committee & Chair early
2) Establish a Project Plan with milestones, deadlines, etc.
a) Rough-out a Financial Plan
b) Delegate to various sub-committees:
3) Marketing / Promotion / Communication Leader
4) Supplier / Sponsor relations Leader
(Message: WHY they should come. Promote WTMRAC membership & Market reach in MEM)
5) Visitors & Guests concierge
6) Venue - Location / Site Leader
a) Venue - Media / Presentation Area
b) Venue â€"œ One Room, w/ one level (wheelchair accessible)
c) Venue - Food Café seating adjacent to Sponsors & Raffle Areas
7) Logistics & Traffic Leader
8) Safety & Regulatory
9) Equipment
10) I.T.

Day of the Show:
1) Hand-held Radios, as needed.
2) Different colored Shirts to denote different responsibilities (“Look for Steve in the red shirt…”)
3) Parking Lot Attendant / Street “Hawker” in a “Fish Suit”
4) Signage / Banners

I can go on and on……………

Basically, lets have a Six-Sigma(esc) Planning Party and everybody gets a pad of “Sticky notes” and we brainstorm the heck out of this, because it CAN be fun!!

Clearly, Melissa has given her all, and we owe her a high-level of relief for the great job she’s done!

Overall, I thought this was great and we’re getting better! Great job Malissa!

(P.S. â€"œ Kyle, thanks again for the RBTA. It's all good man.)

Marty,

I will be glad to set up the perido charts and do the Visio diagrams of the project plan!!! :>)

I have the sticky notes, Magic Markers and Presentation pad behind the seat of my truck at all times!!!!and Vision and SPCL on my laptop.

It "regretfully" at times is most always with me!!

I nominate Marty for the job of wearing the fish suit in the street! Heck, I would dress up as a rock lobster but I'm just not that shellfish! Crabby, perhaps.

Something is telling me that this next show is going to be MACNA'ish in its level of organization.

If you build it, they WILL come......

We ARE after-all: Memphis - America's Distribution Center,
and international home to shipping giant: Federal Distress.

I'd be curious to see (graphically) Where we pulled folks from, because I spoke to folks from all over, and I wasn't really even trying.

My Services are available if you'd like. (Lord knows, everyone here has helped me out a ton, since I re-discovered the taste of the Salt-air!)

LOL!!! ROCK LOBSTER!!!!!!!!!

"My Services are available if you'd like." Quoting Marty

So you are accepting the fish suit job? It could even be a mako shark suit like your avator. :)

It's no big deal everyone. I had a great time and did get to trade for some neat stuff! I can't wait for my next one, y'all didn't run me off that easy!!!!! I just wished I could have been there to get that nano tank and stand that was in the back corner! Thanks again everyone, y'all did a great job with it!!

Again, I'll have to say that you people put together a highly successful swap. Your hard work and organizational skills are apparent. I was trying to count and I think this was the ninth swap that I've participated in. Every one of them has been a little different, some better than others, some very good, and one very bad.

One thing that I did notice is that you had a more or less constant flow of people coming in. I think that may have been because you started earlier in the day. Most of the others didn't start until 12:00 or so. There are some people who have made other commitments and can't make it to an afternoon function. I think this worked to allow people a wider "window" to work it into their schedule.

Great job folks!

Thanks for saying so, and making the truck up to MEM.

It was nice to meet you and your wife.
And thanks for the Frags.

Cheers!

Well I can say this, You and your "assistant" were a joy to deal with and we really enjoyed having you there as a part of our "event". Without wonderful vendors like yourself coming to events such as this it would not be possible. You are why people turn out.

Thanks, much!!

Thank you

Thank you

I would like to thank everyone for this past weekend. I am new to this site and not yet a member of the club. Nevertheless, I had a great time at the swap and picked up some great peaces.
Thanks for all who help put this togther.
