Frag trays

I won 2 of the esopps frag racks at the frag swap. They are the ones with the magnets. I put them in the tank tonight, however the magnets will not stick together on the back of the tank, which is painted. They will stick fine on unpainted areas of tank. Is there a reason why this would be happening? I really need to place them on the back of the tank. TIA.

I only thing that comes to mind is the back glass is thicker than the sides. HTH
