Fragging acan

My cousin and I went halves on this frag. What is the best way to split it in half? I just wanted to check because I have never fragged an acan before. Thanks.

Best is to use a wet cutting diamond bandsaw. If that is not available use a tile saw or a dremmel with a diamond disk. Don't use a hammer and chisel on that.

I don't have a bandsaw so the dremmel will have to do. Is it ok to cut the heads in half or do I have to cut in between them like a jigsaw?

go to harbour freight and get a tile saw. They have a plastic one for $40 ive had mine for 2 years now and it still works great. ive cultivated 100s of acans and a wet tile saw2 is by far the best option.

Thanks Reefeasy I will look into getting one.

Will the polyps that get cut in half grow a new half or will they die?

When you use the tile saw only cut into the bottom of the skeleton and not the flesh if possible. Once you cut a groove into the bottom where you want to separate it use a large flathead screwdriver, insert it into the cut and twist to break the remaining skeleton. The 2 pieces will still be attached by the flesh, just use a new razor blade to cut the flesh cleanly to separate. This is by far the best way to cut acans in my opinion. I hope everything works out for you. Waatch out once you cultivate one acan you wont be able to stop.

I have fragged hundreds of acans...reefeasy said...the tile saw is definately the best option....usually the cut polyps will heal in a week or two under a lower kelvin lamp....as stated within a month or two...you will never know it was fragged....

Reefeasy nailed it right on the head and I would highly recommend a tile saw as well. I have been looking for one recently.
May I ask how long you have had that frag? It looks like it was fragged in the past couple months and pretty small at that. You may want to consider waiting a few more months before fragging....?

Tile Saw

Hi,

Is this the tile saw that you were talking about:

I was going to get an inland Band Saw, but if this works it's about 1/4 the price.

If anyone has any video or pics of fragging their acans could you possibly post them.

I've got one in need of fragging and to be honest, I'm new to this and scared to death to cut into it! But you gotta start somewhere.

Any advice, pics, vids, and kind words of encouragement will be appreciated!

Thanks,
Marc

I too agree with the inland saw or a tile saw but if you have to a dremel is fine to use....but no matter what you use make sure the polyp(s) are completely receded then you can see a lot eaiser.
