Was covering the Cnidarian Phylum today and saw that several of my students started to yawn, doze or just ignore my most wonderful lecture on medusa and polyp body forms of many common Cnidarian.
So that is when I brought out the razor blade!
Showed how coral can reproduce/spread asexually by fragging. After a demo with some zoas I have in my 8g BC in the classroom and talking about toxins released and safety measures, I had several of my students attempt to slice and dice a couple shrooms (slice in half through mouth of a loose shroom and also cutting a shroom off a stalk in hopes of the base growing a new head) and slicing a Cabbage Leather piece in two to provide 2 fingers.
Needless to say, I had their attention
and one student is showing interest in the hobby!
