The question still remains, will this idea solve the air lock issue related to this skimmer design.

I don't think it will help.

There was a few posts from members removing the ball though. This is interesting. I am wondering if the Beckett will work better like that with the Marlin pump. I will need to try and find out. By removing the ball they figured out that the water build up in the Beckett chamber emptied.

It also prevents the Beckett from sucking air in.

Well I am happy with my fix idea on the air lock so im done. I am very happy with my skimmer. Thank you Sherman for stopping in and a big thank you to Paul for all the help in PM. :)
I bought a new camera yesterday ( http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/FZ18/FZ18A.HTM ) and have a few first run shots to share. I still need to figure out all the bells and whistles but on the over all I am very pleased with it. My first real camera :)

Nice pics Frankie!

What type of tang is that in the first group?

... and is that your gator in the second? Is he reef safe?

Sorry Bax, I was not getting updated email from here for some reason~
I ended up tapping into the side of the down draft tubes and hooking up a check valve. That took care of the air lock issue and starts right up after a power outage.
That's my Tomini Tang. Great fish.
Here are a few more pic's. I'm still getting the hang of this camera~

I wanted to give credit to two sponsors that one, gave me fast service when I needed it, Aquarium Specialties, thanks Scott! And Pacific East Aquaculture for a wonderful shipment of frags and great customer service. Scott pulled through for me when I ran out of bak and got it to me ground very quickly.
I'll get some pictures of the frags tomorrow.

I missed your post there Bax :) Thanks buddy. Here are the frag shots. I made a fast frag tray held on with a mag float cleaner. Worked out well. Soon I will be building the frag tank.

And a few other shots. I have been working on my camera skills. I have a long way to go with the manual mode I am afraid~

Nice frag rack. I was on Pacific Easts site last week and it looked like they had some good stuff. I like the pic of the anthias. Do you have a group or just the one? I have a group of 3 in the new tank. They are very cool fish.

I have two. A male and female for about two years now. They stick together pretty well also. I use to have about 6 fire fish but the only one left is in the sump. Not to sure what happened to the rest~ :)

You're getting to know your camera better with each round of pics Frankie, looks great!

Thanks Bax :) My wife was standing here just now and said they are way to blue still. The frag rack pictures are the ones I did in manual and closest to the true color.
I joined a photography forum last night so hopefully I can start to learn this think and get stellar shots like Snappy.
