Frankie's 120 gal. reef.

Photography got me through high school and college. I worked at a studio and shot weddings every weekend and worked part time developing film during the week. I lived in a rough area during college and my apartment was broken into and lost all my equipment. I never ended up replacing it. Recently I have been looking into the Canon Rebel or 40. Maybe Christmas.

Guess I need some updates here. Long over due:

Everything is growing fast now that I went to zeo. I am in the middle of building a 61 gallon frag tank. Here are a few updated pictures

Thanks Bax! The 4th picture up is not so resent. It has gotten much bluer and grown in a bit more since that shot. I will get some more up soon.

Thanks Chris! It took years of trial and error but things seem to make more sense as I get older and less complicated.
Recently I have decided to build a frag tank and expand my aquatic obsession. Since going zeovit my corals have doubled in growth and I found that I will need to start fragging them if I am to keep a 120 gallon reef. My local club is not very good and very few people here in Charleston SC keep sps. So it is my intention to start getting involved in fragging and trading/selling with my online network. Time will tell. Here are some pictures of my frag tank I am building. The glass is 1/2" plate with a flat polish. The overflow parts are not all in yet so I will post pictures of that when I pick them up on Monday. The overflow will be exterior on the right side.
47x25x12 (61 gallons) It will be rimless and a proto type on the future DT of 96x32x18.

Thanks Rickyrooz1 :) Yes, I had it cut and flat polished by a local glass company here in Charleston called http://glassactproductions.com/index.html
Wonderful people to deal with. I had an error in silicone dating on the first build and needed to tear it down and start over. In the act I chipped the front pane. They replaced it for free and supplied me with 3 tubes of fresh aquarium silicone. They also supplied the front pane for me 3 years ago when I rebuilt the 120 DT with Starphire. Their polishing is perfection and I look forward to building future aquariums with them.

Hello everyone,
I finished the frag tank build. Before I get busy fragging I am taking advantage of it and moved all the corals and clams into it. I am going to rebuild the DT. I never have been happy with the scape so I tore it all down. The rock is in the sump. I will be pulling a few fish and doing away with the monti. It is just to big for a 120.
Here are a few shots of the frag tank stuffed.
First, check out this 14' gator I spotted on the way home from work!

14' alligators!

Yeah, we get those here, .... NOT!

Look'n forward to the new DT layout Frankie!

Thanks for popping in Bax :)
Yeah that one was not tiny. I see them a lot but not as big as this one was. I took that picture from across the large lake. Came out pretty good considering how far away I was.

Hey! I am as big an aquatic animal lover as ther e is! And I would not want to be very close to that guy! Give me cudas and sharks any day!

Man I use to go out muddin with some friends and our trucks were pretty mean. We would get back to areas where there are just air boats. The guys here will jump out of the boat and try and cathch a gator. CRAZZZZZZZZZZZYY

I remeber when I would get stuck I would hate to hook up the rope if the water is deep. All you could here were frogs but in the back of my mind they were gators....

They are nasty disgusting animals but super cool..Anything prehistoric has got to be interesting...

LOL Jonathan :) Not really, all you need to do is take the 101 alligator wrestling course online ;)

Instructions
Difficulty: Challenging
Step1
Practice holding a small alligator at first. Then move up to a larger alligator when your instructor has taped its mouth shut. This will lessen the chances of being bitten.
Step2
Approach from directly behind the alligator. Alligators have peripheral vision, so if you come from behind they can't see you. Grab the tail and practice dragging the alligator.
Step3
Sit on the alligator quickly and work your way to its head. With downward pressure on the head you will remove the tape. This difficult task could take about of month of practice.
Step4
Master the tape removal and move to the next step. Tapping the alligator on the nose will make it open its mouth. When it opens wide, stick your hand in and pull it out immediately before the alligator shuts its mouth. Spectators love this stunt.
Step5
Jumping on the alligator from behind and pulling back on its head is another trick alligator wrestlers do. But you must straddle the alligator and pull back right away or it could roll and bite the trainee in the face or chest.

You can do anything with a computer these days :D
