This was the intital serup with the oddysey fixture

This is after I put on the 400w DE Icecap setup with the 20k bulb, it's a shame I can't get these bulbs anymore.

Some undated shots of the transitional stages I guess, I had quite a few reef buddies back then and I was constantly selling/trading/fragging coral.

Before the move probably February after a long battle with nudis, both monti and zoa. Looking a little rough

And for a while I didn't have alot of time to take pics or mess with the tank as we moved into our wonderful new house in the country and had our second little girl. Tank was looking very rough especially with the Ebay bulb and two Rapid PAR38. This would be in October 2011

A good bit of work later and with the addition of a 55 sump/40g frag tank I got it in a little better shape, this was in January 2012, running a different kind of ebay 20k bulb.

Gave up on the ebay bulbs and got a 14k hamilton and added 2 more PAR 38s these are from OC reef. Changed the rock stack to what is now hopefully it's final place. This pic is from earlier this month. Added a few frags as well

Glad to see this on here finally. Looking good again...glad you're happy with the new layout and lighting. Should look great and full again in no time.

I guess we're in the crazy 58s club. We should get jackets made. :D

I'll always have this tank but it may not be the showpiece of the house for long but I'm going to let it grow until Xmas atleast. The tank has had a phoenix 250w over it today and will likely keep it, the 400 puts out quite a bit of heat and as summer rolls in the downgrade will help, not as much as a Kessil A350 though. For the first time in this hobby I'm being asked to make a fish tank with coral rather than a reef tank with a few fish. It's not so much that I don't like the fish, it's the idea of having 50 fish in a tank that is at all peaceful, the new tank will be a 275 (5'X5'X1.5') if anyone other than Dave ever reads this. The wife is promoting not only the tank but for the tank to be a mix of flasher wrasse, anthias, and other "pretty" fish. It should be interesting.

Wow. Again, I wish I had your income. :P Living life paycheck to paycheck sure puts a damper on going bigger in this hobby. I look forward to the build. BTW, where are you going to put it?

It will be half in the living room and half in the dining room, gonna cut an archway in the wall if I don't just totally remove the wall. It will be at a wierd angle like everything else in the house but I think it will look good and best of all I'll get to see it from the lazy boy or the kitchen.

Haha...sounds cool. The hole sounds cool (I'm not a fan of arches) and you could use it as an anchor for the lights.

Did you guys ever get that macro lens you were talking about? I can't find one I want for less than 900.

Thanks, I added some caps today, may add a few frags every other day or so. I think I may have overwhelmed the system with superglue for a while so I'm trying to limit how much I use. I got some great new frag plugs so it is hard to resist but I'll manage.

Thanks, I added two different(hopefully) kinds of orange/red cap and I have green that I'll add when the kids get to sleep, they are not colonies just pieces. I'm trying to get a grown out look like I had at the apartment just starting with frags. I have actually removed several colonies and replaced them with frags, I do have an upgrade in mind for a larger tank but with 2 kids and a new house I'm stretched to do what I'm doing at the moment. I would really like to see this 58 filled to the brim like the Italian tanks I have attempted to mimic, once I do that I'll be ready to move up to a 250+ gallon.

Well been another month or so, growth is steady and color is improving. Hopefully will have a few new additions before next month from a new fish buddy in Oklahoma as it's been too long since I've added some nicer corals. I did move a few corals to make room for future additions but haven't changed anything else.

Nice job.

Love all the progression over the years shots. Really cool to see how a person's tank takes shape over time. Impressive to see how well your tank suvived a move in there too.

Keep it up.
Reef on!
:)
