Freakin Green Chromis

I'm going to try the freshwater dip / transfer method. Seems less stressful, and if I start today I can get it done before we leave town. So here's my plan:

day 1 (today): 4.5 min fw dip on wrasse and move to tank with new water (will have to be the tank I moved the goby and gramma to)

day 2: 4.5 min fw dip on wrasse and move all 3 fish to the other tank with all new water.

day 3: repeat

day 4: nothing

day 5: repeat

day 6: nothing

day 7: repeat

days 8-10: nothing

day 11: one last fw dip and back to 35g QT

I only plan to fw dip the gramma and goby if they show any external signs of the parasite.

day 12: I leave town for a week and pray like crazy that the fish will all look good when I get back on what would be day 19.
 
The above treatment is taken from snorvich's sticky and seems the least stressful for the fish (and for me). Seems like it'd be effective too as after the fw dip the fish looked way better. Fingers crossed. 😁
 
Just checked QT and flasher wrasse is dead. Gramma and goby still look fine but I guess it's only a matter of time before they show signs too.
 
Sorry to hear. :( Brook or uronema will usually pick them off one by one. Another possible treatment option is Chloroquine phosphate. But it's expensive, difficult to get (requires a vet script). I don't trust the stuff being sold on ebay.
 
Just dropped a dose of metronidazole in the tank. I figure if the fish aren't showing external signs of the disease, the formalin dips may not really be the best choice... So I'll treat the water with metro and hope I can eradicate this plague for good. If I can save these last two fish it would give me the confidence to keep on going with this hobby. Otherwise, it's back to freshwater for me.
 
No personal experience using metro to combat brook/uronema, but if snorvich recommends it then it's certainly worth a try.
 
Yep, that's what I was thinking. He even says:

"Flagyl (metronidazole) is by far the most effective drug available against these diseases."

I'm only a little unclear on dosage. I'm dosing as per the instructions on the metro (actually a bit higher because the stuff is so potent that only tiny amounts are used). This is the sentence that confused me a little bit:

"To treat with Flagyl (metronidazole), add 34mg/l (34mg/kg bodyweight is required if treating the internal disease) of the drug to the aquarium water to be treated."

34 mg/kg of bodyweight?
 
What brand are you using? I know with Metro+ the directions say, "1 capful per 10 gallons". Repeat every 24 hrs for 5-7 days.
 
Gramma & goby looking good and ate well today in the 10g QT. Just did a 50% water change and dosed metro again. Trying to decide how long to continue treating. I'm thinking I'll keep the treatment going for a week (last day of treatment would be Tuesday), then move them back to the 35g with new water on Wednesday. That would give me 3 days to observe them before we leave town on Saturday the 11th.
 
Today's update... Gramma and goby just ate well. No water change today. Will do another one tomorrow and redose metro. Gramma has a mark on top of his head. At first I feared the worst but I THINK it's just a gash from banging his head on a piece of PVC. At least I hope that's what it is. Doesn't look the same as what the other fish had. Yet. Fingers crossed.
 
Another day, another 50% water change and another dose of metro... Gramma & goby looking good and eating well. Cautiously optimistic...
