Free Goldflake Angel

OK so I didn't get lucky :( My beautiful goldflake, though really well fed - you don't want to know how many cubes I feed lol - still likes to munch corals. I have seen this a few times now. So he has to go to another good home that will either put up with his coral munching, can break that habit or has a FOWLER they would like to add this really great looking fish to.

Yes he's free to a good home. The only catch? ........................ Yes you guessed it :) You need to catch it without taking my tank apart :frog: You can do it any time of day or night too. He sleeps near the front of the tank. If you have a trap or some magic that works, I'm all good with that. Just no messing up my tank LOL

Anyone interested in this, PM me with the plan and it will be taken into consideration :sad1:

That's to bad. They are beautiful fish!
Yeah it's killing me, but I don't think it will get better. He's not really decimating them, but he did do some damage to a few corals. I don't want to risk it when it get's bigger. He's already grown and looks plump and happy. Really beautiful now with a glow around him.

The only thing I can think of to train him away from nipping at the corals is to get an auto-feeder. Maybe it will keep him busy waiting for the next load to drop :) But I only feed cubed/meaty foods. Dry food like pellets and flake have too much PO4.

I'll get a new pic of him tomorrow when lights are up high. He's nice and plump.

However I discovered a gorilla crab living in one of the colonies he is picking on. It was in the area that the coral lost some flesh. It was pretty small and now out of the tank, but I wonder if that's what the GF was going after. :hmm2:

OK no attempts have yet been made to catch this guy. I'm still giving him a chance to prove he's a keeper or not. Hopefully I'll know by the meeting. If he's been a bad little fish by then, he'll probably be joining us at the meeting :)

very beautiiful fish. I hope he gets over his poor eating choices. Lol, I would definitely take it if I wasn't about to get back into keeping SPS for real.

I would have loved to take him. But ever since freaking Sandy my tank has not done well at all.
What corals is he eating? Perhaps you can find a commercial food that would satisfy him enough to ignore the corals.;)

Well he nips at a frogspawn. I actually haven't witnessed him doing any damage to sps, but he seems to nip around the base. I suspect he's looking for copepods, amphipods and the like on the rocks near the base of the sps.

He get's a pretty varied diet, as do all the fish and he's grown pretty well in the last 6 months or so I've had him. I feed quite a bit, but only once a day. Maybe more frequent feedings would work better. I only feed frozen, but thinking about getting a feeder for pellets. Maybe that will keep him occupied looking for the feeder to release food rather than picking at corals :)

Giving him a bit more time to see what happens.

Hello Bill if she's only nipping at frogspawn I wouldn't even worry about it as your tank is full blown Sps. But if you love the lps more than the fish well she must go then. Have you tried an automatic feeder with hikiari pellets ? This may work. I would try everything before giving up such a perfect specimen.

Bill, when I had a full blown reef I kept about 4 different Angelfish species. Including a Majestic, Flame, Yellow, I forget the other one. None munched on any of my corals.
I fed them once a day Angelfish Frozen Foods, plus I always kept a Nori sheet on a clip for them, and my tangs. See if that works.;)
