Well, Boris isn't even speaking to his room mate, Sumo the sponge crab, and Sumo is moving everything around. All this redecorating has me nervous that he's gonna drop something on Boris.

So, ANyone want him? I'll deliver him to the Indianapolis area, or you can come pick him up. He's kinda neat, just not for a permanent resident in a 5 gallon tank.

What's he look like? I would be interested in the little guy for my fuge or frag tank. I also have a mantis, but Sumo sounds too interesting to be a meal. ;) I'm in Bloomington, but could meet you halfway or if you'll be at the Inland field trip Saturday, I'll be there.

If it has live rock in it, you don't want him in there. Also, he'd be a bad idea for a frag tank, as sponge crabs take corals, sponges, etc and stick them to their back (kinda like decorator crabs) as camoflage. He'd work OK for a fuge though, but remember that this guy is going to get about as big as a softball, so at full size, I'd reccomend probably a 20G fuge at least. I have pics of him, but they're blurry. here he is:

He eats meats, but hasn't bothered my snails and hermits, and he leaves Boris alone after being whapped in the face. Also, he has the prettiest pink claws, but aside from that looks like a big ugly golfball with legs:

He's molted since that picture and has turned white. He's very active, but is usually nocturnal, so you can hear the LR knocking around in there. He even set up a "fort" with LR rubble marking his half of the tank, and boris' half of the tank!

Here's a few better pictures of what he's supposed to look like

This dude is almost an exact image of mine. They have legs that fold up on their backs that they use to hold on the sponge, algae, whatever

It's a big fuge (1/2 of a 40 gallon--the other half is partitioned off and is a frag tank. I'd like to get him if we can arrange it.

Sounds good to me. I will be out of town until next sunday (Mar. 19), but any time after that should be OK. Just tell me where to meet you and I'll bag him up and get him to you.

I'm late to the party, but if it doesn't work out with Catdoc, Tim would most assuredly enjoy his company. ;)

Oh, sure!! Tempt Sumo with promises of fame and immortalization as a friend of Tim (Supermantis)! ;) LOL!

I suppose now I've been relegated to the list of people Tim doesn't like?

Not at all.

Though fame is a near-certainty in my little tank, and while obscurity under the display tank awaits Sumo in yours... I came in a distant second here.
(LOL)

Besides, I still have to get some snails off of you to entertain the supermantis... especially since he has no one cool to figh... er... room with. ;)

There's gotta be a cheap source for cool hitchhikers somewhere on the web, I just haven't found it (yet).

ps- LOVE your Heinlein sig!
