Free Mantis

I believe it's a wennerae - very pretty. About an inch long. I prefer not to ship. I'm in Lakeland, FL and hoping for a local pickup.

I think shipping mantises is easy. Just put it in a thermos that is filled a third of the way with saltwater (so the mantis has enough oxygen for a while) and put it in a box that is padded with newspaper and a few heatpacks. I think that's how you do it. anyone wanna back me up or disagree?

Well I would put it in a bag first then in the thermos for fear of chemicals on the thermos. (do you mean a soup container or a lunch bag???) I would just add one, maybe two heat packs, but I dont know how much heat travels through the thermos. Sounds pretty much fine though.

Doryarlin - it sounds like you really want this mantis, and I'd like to help a fellow hobbyist out. If you can tell me exactly what to do to ship it, and cover the shipping / packaging costs, it's yours.

Now, I just caught it's twin, so I have another one up for grabs. I first posted about a wennerae a week or so ago, which is a much bigger one I still can't catch, and someone here named mattyice I believe called first dibs. I'll have to go back and check but I completely forgot about that when I caught the first small one. So, mattyice or whoever it was it was that called dibs earlier, let me know if you are interested in this second one. It's identical to the pic above, and also about an inch in size. I'd love to trade for a cool frag, but at this point I'm happy to help someone out.
