Good morning all! I have a large green brittle star that up until yesterday was a model citizen (innocent until proven guilty that is). Well tuesday night he ate one of my new threadfin anthia's. I am sure of this, as his body was at least twice the normal size, and the anthia's were all accounted for and eating before I went to bed. Too bad he didn't choak on it. So anyone want him?

The star fish is a Surpant Star it would most likely to eat just about anything and i have heard that they would also eat fish as well

TheCoralReef731, in good conscience I could not give him to you...those clowns would make a nice snack for this beast.....

umm...the fish probably just died then the thing ate it body....i think thats more likely then the star fish violently attacking and eating the fish

that is the EXACT reason why got rid of mine...i also heard that NOTHING will eat them. Not triggers, puffers, nothing...

rogerwells, the fish did not die, that I am sure of. These are predatory, it is documented :)

Yeah, I had one too. I couldn't figure out why my fish were disappearing. I figured it was my pistol shrimp, so I, regrettably, sold him. Then a clownfish disappears and I notice my brittle star is humongus. :mad2: Read on here that brittle stars can be a little nasty.
So I got rid of him and haven't lost a fish yet. Except for the one that jumped out. :(

I miss the pistol shrimp, he dug a home under my live rock and used shells to make a wall. :(

I think I'm just gonna plump him up with nice expensive fishies then see if I can have a battle royale with Doug Lehman's mantis eating trigger, Bubba. What do ya say Doug? We can charge admission, take bets etc etc....
