UPDATE:

Fuji has contacted the Newport Aquarium and they may be interested in buying her. Lets hope this little lady gets a new home fast. I dropped by to see her yesterday and wow! what an amazing animal. I invite you guys to go over and see her while she is still there. She is an incredible and intelligent creature which deserves a good home.
</b>
Sure hope he can work something out fast. I imagine neither Fuji or the shark are happy with her current living arrangements.
Yep that's why he no longer wants the sharks in there, they are to aggressive.
I hate to ask but was she the only shark still in the tank or the only one being "evicted"

She is the only one being evicted (for now). She developed a taste for black tips and lookdowns. It's a large female and is going to get even more aggressive and larger with age. She is in Fujis rock curing vat in the back. Im sure eventually the other sharks will be evicted as well this is a sad situation IMO and one that could have been avoided. We actually had someone call today and ask if we could get them a shark. I doubt they were too happy with the response.

Let me know if the Newport Aquarium deal falls through.
I've eaten two species of sharks, and both were delicious! If this blacktip is a big one, I could get several large filets from it. I'd grill them.
Shark looks and tastes a lot more like a good cut of pork than fish. It's also very lean.
Jim, keep me in mind when you need to get rid of those two you're keeping now. Fresh shark is very hard to get around here.

WVfishguy, you are just sooooo funny, we are all just rolling in the floor laughing! You simply make this site with your witty comments. WOW, what would we do without you?

Yes, I have also eaten shark and I think it is good. I have not tried a white tip but have had black tipped sharks before. I thought they tasted more like Swordfish than anything else. However, I doubt you would get much out of this small of one.

I have eaten shark as well, but the purpose of our club "We feel it is our duty as hobbyists to be responsible for our animals" straight from our chemicalvalleyreefclub site. I doubt many of us decide our cats or dogs are no longer useful to us so we eat them. I like shrimp too, but I am certain I am not going to dip into my tank and have a snack.

Oh, lighten up a little there Reef, I am not advocating eating the shark, just saying they taste pretty good. BTW, I bet it would be much more healthy to eate than the ones you would catch out of the Big Blue.

I wasn't directing my comments toward you Phil, you didn't say anything negative. I know you were not advocating the killing of this shark. I was furthering my comments toward the person that was, which I know he was "joking" but it wasn't funny, people worked hard at getting this animal a home. Please know that I was not commenting toward you.

I don't know who did the calling and the arranging, but KUDOS to those involved (besides the idiot shark owner) in this relocation. I hope (but doubt) that he learned a lesson. I'll bet this girl shark thinks she died and went to ... the ocean.

In this instance, I don't believe the owner had much to do with this. If I understand right he was sold this in the understanding that it would live its life out in this tank. One of my clients were sold 2 black tip sharks by the same company that sold to Lester and told they too were told their sharks would live out their lives in the tank they bought. Really they weren't lying.......they just didn't specify what kind of life they would be living. sucks!

Wonderful video Ron, thanks so much for sharing! It was wonderful that Fuji was able to house her until pickup. So should we call her JoFuji! :)

I think they named her "Sugar" But Im not 100% sure.
I agree with what Jim said above, I don't just blame the owner on this matter. However he should have did some research as well. The guys who came to get her said they feed there white tips about 30 mackrel a day.

I hope to go down to see her next year somtime and finish this video full circle.

Thanks again,
Ron
