Free young bimac to a good home - Info on shipping needed also

I need to find this little guy a home since I am moving again.

I have a baby bimacuilodes I from fishsupply.com, I ordered it about 2 months ago, The octo is probably about 3-4 Months old and is very tame (atatched is a picture taken about 1 month ago)
Currently its mantle is about the size of a quarter or a golfball, with 5" arms. This octo accepts any type of food. It can be yours if you pay the shipping (Fed-ex overnight) and I determine you have a suitable home for it. Although my LFS has offered to buy it from me, I do not want it to go into there system and then get sold to some jackass.

So, If you are interested...Reply to this post, Send me a PM, Or most preferably an email to DBSHELTONII@WINSTONIND.COM
I would be ready to ship within a week from today.

So hit me up and we can discuss specifics(First come First serve), Also, If any of you more seasonsed ceph keepers could give me some shipping tips, That would be great, I have never shipped livestock before.

Thanks
-David-

Hi

Go to some local Lfs's and see if they will give you one of their old polystyrene boxes that they will get their fish delivered in and a couple of heavy duty bags at ~18"x12".

Add only enough water to fill about 1/5 of the bag. Just an inch or two above the octos head.
Try to fill up remaining space with oxygen (maybe a local LFS will help you here) or by using clean air. Dont blow into the bag.
Tie one bag then turn it upside down and put it into a second bag. That way there is no corners in the bags, just rounded.
Put the bag into the poly box and add newspapers scrunched up to prevent the bag rolling about or tape it into poistion in teh middle of teh box. Fasten box tightly with sticky tape.
Ensure the box is well labeled as a LIVE ANIMAL and what it is to prevent the mail staff playing football with your box, so HANDLE WITH CARE and FRAGILE etc

I do this hundreds of times a day at my job and that's exactly how its done.

Thanks for your reply, This will be most helpful when the time comes to ship....Just one thing

Dont blow in the bag?
What are you trying to say man? That I have dirty lungs ;) lol

Thanks again

... all depends what you have been smoking??? :)

Actually, i should have been clearer...

I have seen people blowing into bags that contain fish before tying them to fill the remainder of the bag up with air. So, that means that the air that comes out of their (dirty) lungs is high in carbon dioxide and low in oxygen.... So i just mean dont blow into the bag cuz your breath stinks..... I em, mean er..... cuz you will fill the bag with waste gasses not good 'ole O2...

:D

Thanks man, You were clear the first time I thought....I just thought it was funny, As though you were implying my breath stunk, But a LFS breath does not ;) hehe When the time comes, I will just inflate the bag with an air pump and tube, Or at best, See the dentist, and then fill the bag ;)

Thanks again, Now I have to find someone to take this thing

I dont think that will be a problem for long!!! You know I'd take it but there is a slight problem of several thousand miles and customs etc!

****Bimac has found a home****

That was fast.
