FreshWater DIP for LPS corals??

Never tried that. Zoas tolerate it well, I know with SPS its a big no-no! Good question, I suspect no is the answer....bump!

Actually, why would you want to do a fresh water dip?

I personally dip in revive with the coral hanging over a air stone for 5 minutes then I swirl it around in some tank water.

Thanks for the answers so far guys.

Reason I asked is cause I have heard and read people say they dip there corals in FreshWater to kill pests, but was wondering how good it was. So thought I would raise the question here.

Its great for zoas, especially for nudis. Also good for fish. For more sensitive corals, I think you're better off with either Bayer or one of the dips (Coral Rx, Revive, etc....)

use the bayer product mixed with tankwater for the dip. Found that it kills more bugs than revive or coral rx.

Actually just found out last night that you can do it to SPS without harming them lol

Did a quick FW dip once on a piece of monti as an experiment, and it did NOT like it. Went completely pale, and I threw it out. There was a nudi on there, so I didn't care. I would be cautious with FW, but if you guys say you can do it, then I believe you......

I've dipped LPS with tissue damage and jelly infections for up to 5 minutes, no issues with the dip, and it's often helped knock back those jelly infections to allow the coral a chance to heal. Wouldn't hesitate to do a FW dip of LPS for things like flatworms and nudi's ;)

IMHO- FW and SPS is a no no, dont know about other stuff.

I have been dipping in Revive for a few years now (before, I didnt dip and regretted it), but have seen MarkE do the Bayer thing.

I recently dip my duncan in fw, I did it for bout 4 to 5 second at a time and I repeated the process 3 to 4 time. It is fine, but it was my last resort. I was moving it from my quarantine tank which I discovered have these little parasite worms. But I m glad to hear about the Bayer technique :-)
