Friday 4/18/2008 - C-SEA Meeting - Presenting: Marc Levenson

Thanks for the links Melev!
How is the club doing down your way? I lived in Dallas in 2000-2002 and remember going to meetings that took place in different peoples houses - it was great to see so many cool tanks, and meet the great folks. I bought a great 180 from Dallas North, and remember getting some great Florida live rock from one of the pet stores on the east side of Dallas (?botique pets).
There was also a place with a Massive aquarium with a wave bucket, but I think that closed just before I left.

Our club is doing very well indeed. I joined DFWMAS back in '02 at MACNA XIV, and within a year or so we had to start meeting in LFS around the metroplex. Over the years, we've had several Tank Tours each year, a coral propagation workshop ('05 and again next month), three Next Wave one-day conferences, flown in special speakers, had in a few vendors to talk about their products (Tunze, PFO come to mind) and a lot of presentations were handled by me simply because it was easier than most other options. ;) Over the past five years our membership roster has really grown, and it is almost impossible to believe so many people have joined our MAS. For the past 1.5 years, we are meeting a community room on the third floor of a furniture store in Grapevine, which is pretty much the center of our metroplex. Average attendance seems to be between 75 and 120 people each month. Using Powerpoint has really made the talks much more useful to the attendees.

Pet Boutique still exists, as do about 20 other LFS in our area. The World Down Under is long gone.

I'd like to make one last comment on this topic before I refuse to enter another post in this specific forum. Ernie apologized to me and everyone else involved with Friday nights heated discussion. So from here on out, I am willing to let bygones be bygones. I'm not sure if thats how bygones is spelled. lol

I hope everyone is enjoying the warmer weather. I know I am really loving it.
