Fridmani dottyback with Royal Gramma??

Hi all,

As per the title has anyone tried keeping these together? My guts telling me it would be a bad idea but i'd be interested to hear from anyone who's tried it in a similar or smaller volume to mine.

Both would be captive-bred and would be going in my 90 (48"x18X24") reef with somewhere in the region of 100lb rockwork.

So far I have 2 x clowns, 2 x banggai's, 1 x green mandarin and a coral beauty (mandy & angel from Biota) so I can't foresee any issues there except maybe some inital bullying from the angel (its only around 5cm long so hopefully wouldn't give them too much trouble!)

CB fridmani's are readily available and i'm leaning towards this option but there may be a possibility to get one of the grammas bred by the Batavia institue in Australia in the coming months which is tempting me.

Thanks

Nick

IMO, I would do one or the other. I would be concern with the aggression from the dottyback towards the mandarin and the pod battle. How about a couple of fairy/flasher wrasses.

Thanks, i'm doing captive bred fish only so limited when it comes to wrasse etc.

I do have concerns re pods and competition from the dotty but it seems as though quite a few people keep them together with success. I'm also in the process of training the mandarin to eat from a feeder and I wouldn't add anything until i've achieved this and I'm sure I can keep him fat.

I had both, but never together. Both get along fine with mandarins.

My 3 Grammas are now together with 4 Starcki damsels and there isn't really much going on between them aside from a little intimidation to make sure everyone knows its place.

I would not expect Grammas to have to much trouble with Fridmanis.
