friend added a puffer-all fish are dead next morning

Hello,

My friend added a puffer fish to their tank yesterday, and this morning 4 fish died (including a 1 year old purple tang)...but puffer is ok and there is one fish left breathing heavy (also, eels seem fine) what could have happened? Is it possible the puffer spread a disease that effected the fish within 24 hours???? Doens't ick, velvet etc. take a few days to pass?

My suggestion was that the puffer went on an attack spree....I would love to hear any other suggestions available, - oh parameters read good.

Absolutely. I lost 10 fish in 12 hours, always QT.

Unfortunatly the only thing they can really do now is put the fish into a qt tank, treat them, and leave the display without fish for 8 weeks.

I'm pretty sure velvet got me. Probably got them as well.

I had 2 fish survive, i tried to add more fish a month down the road........ won't work if the tank has survivors.
