Check your Carbon Monoxide detectors often! Ours went off about 3:30am which promptly got my attention! Got the kids and everyone out of the house and the Fire dept checked it out. Looks like a false alarm/ faulty detector. All is well except my sleep for the night. Looked like someone had died outside with the fire truck, police and ambulance in front of my house. The neighbors I'm sure loved the lights and such so early in the morn.

Retraction on my original statement. we have low amounts in the house. I bought a new digital detector that gives you the ppm avg downstairs is 35ppm and up stairs about 30. my furnace up stairs is new as in less than 2 mon old. no readings around it but holy crap around the downstairs unit! It is a pkg unit and completely outside however due to the snow and extreme cold it was buried and had no place to vent. I dug it out and opened all the vents manually to make sure they were working. opend windows and vented whole house. I think the unit downstairs was sucking in ther exahust cause of the snow. I plan on monitoring it all day to see if it creeps up. the upstairs unit when it kicks on sucks enough air from downstairs to spike the meter by 5-7ppm in a matter of a couple of minutes. Hopefully the snow removal will take care of it.

If not I may have to have you come check it out Doug! atleast when you get to feeling better! by the way the heat exchanger that I replaced was 52 years old and working like a champ! lol but it was ineficient and the ac was out.

Just lmk. Be glad to check it out for you. I am starting do do some jobs but of course not when the roads are as bad as they have been. Can't imagine getting stuck and digging my self out. I would really be hurting then..

Glad you and your family is doing well! Happy to read that you took the actions to keep everyone safe. Well worth losing a few hours of sleep over, eh my friend? :)

No doubt! I wouldn't want you to come out till you were good to go. I think I figured it out but I may have to put a vent pipe up the side of the house for the pkg unit so it vents above the house. I found a pretty good air leak around where my POwer comes in from the meter which is right above the vent on the heater. I will foam it later today and see how it goes.

woo, be careful! It doesnt take much to affect small children. I had a teacher whose nephew lost conciousness on a road trip because the exaust was leaking into the car. Both adults present had no ill effects but had to take the little guy to the emergency room.
